Biography

Elisabeth Lechner works as an expert for digitisation politics at the Austrian Chamber of Labour. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies and has worked extensively on looks-based discrimination, in the work-place and beyond. Her book „Riot, Don’t Diet – Aufstand der widerspenstigen Körper“ analyses looks-based discrimination from an intersectional feminist perspective. In lectures, workshops and interviews, Lechner develops strategies against lookism and body shaming in different contexts.

Shaping law means shaping our societies. Equal opportunities for women – and people of all genders, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds – in legal professions are crucial for a truly inclusive, just society. I am working towards overcoming looks-based discrimination and creating harrassment-free, inclusive and safe working environments for all.
