Biography
Evelyn Regner is Vice-President of the European Parliament, a lawyer by training and a trade unionist and feminist at heart. In her legislative work, she is negotiating several European initiatives to improve the situation of women – currently when it comes to more representation on company boards and transparency to close the gender pay gap.
There are numerous gender gaps and they all are a systematic issue. The burden to tackle them cannot lie only on the shoulders of some women but has to be addressed by our society as whole. That means that we will have to address some of the very fundamental pillars on which our society is built, meaning stereotypes, unpaid work and inequality but also law. For that we need female lawyers and organisations to ask for and make the change. Only then a good life for everyone – no matter the gender – will finally be possible.
