Zlata Đurđević is a tenured professor of criminal procedure, human rights, international and European criminal law at the University of Zagreb; recognized as a leading scholar and national expert in professional and public life. She is particularly dedicated to raising awareness and fight against patriarchy and gender inequalities and prejudice, and takes appropriate action against sexism and other forms of gender-based discrimination and violence in academia, judiciary and Croatian society.
I do not accept discrimination against women, my female colleagues and myself. Equal opportunities for women in law have multiple positive effects for the protection of women’s rights in general and guarantees their effective implementation. In a patriarchal society that pursues discriminatory practices at all levels, organizations such as the Women in Law provide support and a platform for all women who do not consent to their gender based professional and human subordination and degradation.
