Biography

Christian Demmelbauer, assistant at the institute of legal philosophy at the University of Vienna, has recently started to work in the field of legal philosophy. His research focuses on rights, the critique of law and rights, and illiberal political theories. He is particularly interested in how law can provide a stable basis for emancipatory claims.

Fighting for equal opportunities for women in law is not only important in order to break the male hold on positions of power, such as the lawyer’s, the judge’s, and those of other legal professionals. It is important in order to challenge the very interpretations these roles, and legal work generally, receive to remake them in the light of empathy, care, and a willingness to fight for a just and equal society.
