The Women in Law Conference | Vienna | September 12-14, 2024

Fabian Lütz

Fabian Lütz is a former Legal Officer of the European Commission (DG Justice) with more than 10 years of experience in administration and law firms who moved to academia to focus on questions of AI regulation, Gender Equality and Non-discrimination. He has widely published in well-known academic journals and spoken at conferences on legal and policy issues surrounding AI, Gender and Non-discrimination. He is currently finalizing his PhD in European Law on the topic of AI, Gender and Algorithmic Discrimination.

Equal opportunities have always been important, specifically in the legal profession and more generally in positions of power. Today, AI brings new challenges to achieve gender equality in the algorithmic age, where the law, the legal profession have to seize the opportunities and adequately address the risks for equality and non-discrimination. Women in general and particularly in the legal profession need to sit at the AI decision-making table to ensure that equal opportunities are a reality not only in the offline but also in the online world.
