Biography

Hande Özkayagan Prändl is a university assistant and research associate at the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law at the University of Vienna. Her research focus is intellectual property law, regulation of artificial intelligence, and data ethics, on which she conducts teaching activities at the University as well. She is also one of the coordinators of the Vienna Art Law Clinic, where students from the Law Faculty get the opportunity to offer legal advice to arts students and artists on a pro bono basis. Before joining the Department, she worked at a legal tech company providing intellectual property case solutions and analytics. She earned her LL.M.degree in European and International Business Law at Leiden University.

I believe we as women in law need to be reminded more often that we are not alone along our career journeys and in our efforts to seekand ensure equal opportunities for ourselves and our fellow female colleagues. Especially for women in law who are in the earlier stages of their careers, such as myself, it is incredibly valuable to see and know that there is a kind, strong and motivating community out there, where one can seek support and guidance. Therefore, I am grateful for the efforts of the Women in Law initiative to grow and cherish this wonderful network.
