The Women in Law Conference | Vienna | September 11-13, 2025

Katharina Beclin

Biography

Katharina Beclin, assistant professor for criminology, main research focusing on gender aspects of criminal law and criminology, especially sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, labour exploitation and human trafficking. The practical relevance is particularly important to me. I regularly cooperate with victim protection organisations and coordinate the Austrian NGO platform against exploitation and human trafficking.

Legal professions are of great importance in society, they enjoy a high reputation and great influence. It is therefore particularly important that women are able to participate equally in these professional fields and that female law students are encouraged at an early stage to actively participate in discussions and stand up for their opinions so that the perspective of more than 50% of the population is taken into account appropriately.
