Biography
Lauren Kohn, Legal Scholar, Attorney of the High Court of South Africa; Founder www.SALegalAdvice.co.za; change-maker, educationalist & passionate advocate for good governance in South Africa (SA). Lauren’s scholarship has fed into law reform efforts & been endorsed by the courts. She is a Young Fellow of the University of Cape Town; a Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South African (Law & Justice); one of South Africa’s Most Inspiring 50 Women & one of 20 Women Leaders from across Africa.
The Women in Law Initiative is a wonderful platform for women to shine. Equally, we should remember that law is a powerful vehicle to drive social change & as women we must be part of the change. The law must not stagnate; it must be context-responsive. It is our role as legal academics & practitioners to ensure this – and do so with respect & boldness in equal measure.
