Of Nicaraguan origin and British nationality, Lizzette is a lawyer and academic with a firm belief on advancing gender equality, safeguarding the rule of law and protecting human rights, demonstrated by her career and academic path. She has overcome many obstacles and continues to use her expertise to improve the situation of women in the legal profession and beyond. She spearheaded several global research initiatives to position gender equality at the heart of the legal profession.

By putting obstacles for achieving gender equality, we are missing out on the great talent, knowledge and expertise brought by half of the population – the women. At this stage, where the world is in serious crisis, more than ever, we need to come together with innovative solutions. Consequently, it is not only morally wrong, but also, we cannot afford to continue perpetuating this inequality for the few at the expense of the many.
