Maja Đerek

Maja Đerek is a layer, former employee at the State property management company “Državne nekretnine” who became the best-known whistleblowerin the Republic of Croatia after she had disclosed usage of a state-owned company for private interests of certain politicians and their friends and then filed a corruption investigation ple. Mrs. Đerek is currently the head of the city property office in the city of Split and president of Transparency Development and Whistleblowers Protection Association

Women in legal professions have bold and uncompromising stance and are an example of outstanding resistance to structural and political pressures that gives hope to a state of the rule of law. The Women in Law Initiative publicly displays and makes this behavior important.
