Marie Wölbitsch

Biography

Marie Christin Wölbitsch, is a lawyer candidate and was early committed to feminist and queer issues as the head of department for feminist politics of the Austrian Students‘ Union. Initially studying Veterinary Medicine, she chose law after being hugely dissatisfied with the injustice queers and women* were further facing, especially after volunteering at Intervention Center for trafficked Women* (LEFÖ-IBF). Since 2022 she is an elected member of the Vienna bar association, representing the interests of fellow lawyer candidates.

I would like to start by reminding us all that women*’s rights are human rights and I firmly believe, that networking and exchange are important tools for further strengthening and defending these rights. The explicit recognition of achievements through the Justitia Awards is also an important step towards making these rights visible and empowering women* and the work that they do.
