Nadja Lorenz

Nadja Lorenz, attorney at law in Vienna, Austria since 1998. Specialized in Asylum-Law, always focussing on gender questions in this male-dominated area as well. For almost a decade she was the head of the well known Austrian NGO SOS Mitmensch, whose goal is to give a voice to people, who are not well heard in the society.

In the profession of lawyers women have been underrepresented, when I started my carreer over two decades ago – and they are underrepresented today. Women represent more than 50 percent of the population, so they have to have a say in all fields of society. Law is part of our democracy’s structure; it works the best, when women are actively represented and have sufficient influence to shape it.
